Who was RCS?
RCS was a software development company specializing in transaction-based applications, and in transaction components for retail and business computing.
Many of RCS' delivered solutions have been to retailers in the department store and specialty store retail formats. These solutions typically include both point-of-service and backoffice applications.
RCS and NCR
RCS was acquired by NCR Corporation in 2000, and operated as a
wholly owned subsidiary, and then as a division of NCR. In 2008, RCS
completed its integration into NCR. Many of the former employees of
RCS continue to work on its core product,
NCR SpecialtyPOS
(formerly NCR Advanced Store), in either R&D (for continuing enhancements to the
product) or Professional Services (for personalization of the product to
specific customers).
